Lee Jae-myung Administration Holds Midterm Review After Six Months
Six months into the Lee Jae-myung administration, the Presidential Office held a meeting on the 7th to review policy achievements and set the direction for future state affairs. The meeting took place at the Presidential Office in Yongsan and was attended by Chief of Staff for Policy Kim Yong-beom, National Security Advisor Wi Sung-rak, and Chief of Staff to the President Kang Hoon-sik.
The meeting was designed to comprehensively assess key policy accomplishments of the first six months of the Lee Jae-myung administration and explore ways to improve future state administration. Attendees shared detailed updates on policy implementation in each sector, objectively analyzed tangible achievements and shortcomings, and engaged in in-depth discussions on policy improvement measures. The Presidential Office stated that it plans to further focus on policy implementation based on the outcomes of this meeting.
Chief of Staff for Policy Kim Yong-beom assessed that "the past six months have been a time of sowing the seeds of change and innovation for a new Republic of Korea," and said, "We will do our best to promote policies that can provide practical assistance to the lives of the people." National Security Advisor Wi Sung-rak emphasized that "in a situation where uncertainty in the security environment is increasing, we must establish a strong security posture and continue efforts for peace on the Korean Peninsula." Chief of Staff to the President Kang Hoon-sik pledged, "It is important to strengthen communication with the public and listen to the voices of the people," and "The Presidential Office will do its best to promote policies for the people."
The meeting discussed policy achievements in various fields such as economy, society, diplomacy, and security, with in-depth discussions focusing on economic revitalization, livelihood stability, social integration, and the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Participants agreed to make greater efforts to reform regulations, attract investment, and create jobs to revitalize the economy, and to focus on supporting the people's livelihood and strengthening the social safety net to stabilize people's lives. In addition, they agreed to work harder to resolve conflicts between classes, generations, and regions and to protect the socially disadvantaged in order to promote social integration. They also decided to pursue the resumption of inter-Korean dialogue and the strengthening of international cooperation to build peace on the Korean Peninsula.
The Presidential Office plans to concretize the direction of future policy implementation based on the content discussed at this meeting and strive to create results that the public can feel. The Presidential Office plans to promote policies focusing on four core goals: economic revitalization, livelihood stability, social integration, and the establishment of peace on the Korean Peninsula, based on the results of this meeting. To stabilize people's lives, it will focus on supporting the people's economy, protecting vulnerable groups, and expanding the social safety net. To promote social integration, it will promote the creation of a fair competition environment, equal educational opportunities, and the promotion of cultural diversity. To build peace on the Korean Peninsula, it will seek to improve inter-Korean relations, resolve the North Korean nuclear issue, and strengthen cooperation with neighboring countries.
The Presidential Office plans to work closely with each ministry and actively collect public opinions to reflect them in policies in order to achieve these policy goals.
