Russian President Vladimir Putin has commented on Donald Trump's proposed peace plan for Ukraine. During a video conference with the Russian National Security Council, Putin confirmed the existence of a peace plan presented by the United States. According to TASS and RIA Novosti, he mentioned possessing the document.

Trump reportedly proposed a 28-point draft peace plan to Ukraine. According to foreign media, Trump's peace plan includes Ukraine ceding territory in the Donbas region (Donetsk and Luhansk) not under Russian control and withdrawing its forces, as well as recognizing Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014, and the Donbas region as Russian territory.

Putin stated that the plan had been discussed even before the US-Russia summit in Anchorage, Alaska, in August. He explained that there was a brief pause within the US after the Alaska meeting because Ukraine rejected President Donald Trump's plan.

Putin claimed that Ukraine and Europe misunderstand the situation on the ground and warned that if Ukraine refuses to discuss Trump's proposal, the situation in Kupiansk could be repeated in other front-line areas. Russia announced the previous day that it had captured Kupiansk in the Kharkiv region of eastern Ukraine.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov previously stated that Russia had not officially received Trump's peace plan. Peskov added that specific details had not been discussed.
